Hi, I’m Jen Kalusa, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I provide online trauma-informed therapy for emotionally attuned adults in California who want to understand their inner world and feel more like themselves in important relationships. You may be seeking therapy because emotions feel hard to hold, frustrating patterns keep showing up in relationships, or earlier experiences continue to shape how you feel and connect.

My work is grounded in the belief that emotions make sense in context. Therapy offers a steady, compassionate space to understand emotional patterns, heal from trauma, and build greater ease, self-trust, and connection over time.

Who this therapy is for

This therapy is well suited for adults who feel affected by past experiences or relational trauma that continue to influence emotional responses and relationships today. You may notice patterns such as anxiety, emotional overload, or difficulty staying grounded during stress.

This work supports people who want to make sense of their emotions with care rather than manage or suppress them, and who are seeking trauma-informed therapy that allows for steadiness, clarity, and meaningful change over time.

My approach

Therapy here is about slowing things down and getting to know your inner experience with care, so emotions feel safer and easier to hold.

We pay attention to the different emotional responses that show up under stress, such as parts of you that worry, push through, shut down, or feel hurt. Rather than trying to get rid of these responses, therapy helps them feel understood, which, over time, reduces inner tension and conflict.

This work also focuses on how emotions shape closeness, trust, and connection in relationships. As emotional patterns become clearer and more settled, many people find it easier to feel present, grounded, and more like themselves with others.

When appropriate, trauma-processing approaches such as EMDR, Flash Technique, and Havening are used to help reduce the emotional intensity of past experiences, without needing to relive details before you’re ready.

What online therapy is like

Home office

Sessions take place through secure video or phone call and offer a consistent, emotionally present space to meet from wherever you are. Therapy moves at a thoughtful pace and focuses on building a sense of safety, steadiness, and trust.

I pay attention to what feels most important in the moment, allowing space for emotions, reflection, and meaningful conversation. Many clients find that online therapy makes it easier to show up fully, stay grounded, and integrate this work into daily life.
